Holiday Wish List Meme

Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
1. This one is stolen from
tartanshell. :p I wish for a fannish mug, either Harry Potter or X-Men. It can have pictures or just text on it, I'm not picky. Ok, I'm kinda picky...no Cyclops.
2. Some paid LJ time. My subscription ran out a few months agoand I miss my icon space. Thank you, who ever gave me icon space!
3. I'd love to have some nice Northstar or Nightcrawler icons. Or Snape. Snape is good too. :D
4. A Harry Potter scarf in Slytherin colors. I tried making one myself but I suck at knitting. It was pitiful, truly. Thank you, [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com].
5. Share with me your best cheesecake recipes! Mmm, cheesecake... Thank you to all who gave recipes. I've crossed this one off the list but there's always room for more. ;)
6. I love art and I'd like to have more. :) Snape, Lupin, Northstar, Aurora, Nightcrawler, mermaids, kitties...surprise me.
7. Y2kewel has been on the hunt for an old playstation game called Legends of Legaia for a long time now. If you know where to get it I'd love some info. Yay, Ebay!
8. I wouldn't mind at all if someone gave me chocolate. I'm tired of Hershey bars. [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] is my hero.
9. Books! Rec me some of your all-time favorite books. I have Wicked and Jane Erye to get through now. :)
10. I might as well ask for something big, huh? I need new furniture for my living room. If some kind soul has money to burn I can meet you at Ikea in ten minutes...
That is my wish list! I actually had a hard time coming up with ten things. I must have some hidden issue about asking for stuff. *shrugs* If any kind person is interested in th real-world stuff just drop me an e-mail at zinaya@gmail.com

Date: 2004-11-21 11:07 pm (UTC)Books? Get thee to BookCrossing.com, m'dear. (and put "midwinter" as your referral if you join - I don't get anything but a nice boost in my stats from a referral...and I'm a stats junkie)
Chocolate...I'll get back to you on that. But in the meantime, if you can get to Trader Joe's, there's this To Die For monster chocolate bar there called the "Pound Plus" (usually on a shelf near the frozen sweet things) - they come in 4 or 5 different varieties - I prefer the dark, dark version. About $2.50 for an enormous slab of chocolately goodness.
I'm 250 words away from a 3,000 word day (and I DID need to do it ;) ), so that's all the babbles for now...
I'm a meme whore, so this'll make the rounds via my f-list tomorrow :)

Date: 2004-11-21 11:27 pm (UTC)Yay for ebay! I'll have to put a bid on one of those. George will be pretty happy if he got it for Christmas.
Get thee to BookCrossing.com, m'dear.
I just took a quick look at the site and it looks like the Coolest.Thing.Ever. I have a feeling I'll be wasting a lot of time there.

Hee! I'm so there.
And yay for the 3000 words! I didn't write at all today so I'll have to catch up at the next write-in. With any luck we can all finish this week.

Date: 2004-11-21 11:29 pm (UTC)And if you think bookcrossing is cool, wait til you see the relay site. There's a link thru from my BC profile (midwinter - also in my NaNo profile). I spend entirely too much time on relay.
Wendy, the woman who's coming to the write-in on Wednesday is someone I met thru bookcrossing. Small world...

Date: 2004-11-22 10:27 am (UTC)I've been very good this year. *wink* What I want for Christmas is a picture of a kitty, some candy, a scarf, and a porno featuring six straight guys who conquer their fear of television by having hot gay sex.
Oh, and world peace.
Love,
Zinaya
p.s. I'll leave the milk and cookies by the fireplace, ok? Do you like Oreos?

Date: 2004-11-23 02:49 pm (UTC)If you're interested, I can either knit or crochet it. The ones in the movie are knit, but crochet would go a lot faster. Let me know.
