Ok, I'm getting really irritated. I've been sick for the past five days and it's not getting any better. All the stupid cold is doing is moving to a different place everyday. First it was my chest, and then for three days it was my throat-- that was a fun one, who needs a voice anyway? Yesterday it was in my head and giving me headaches. You know what it is today? Nose bleeds!

Oh, the joy.

I had to run inside my apartment after taking George to work because I was cupping my face trying not to get blood on my car. Or my shirt...or the pavement...I failed at both of those by the way. I washing my face and changing my shirt when some random guy comes to my door asking if I'm ok and need the police. I'm standing there in a tanktop with a tissue up my nose trying to convince this guy that I'm sick and no, my husband didn't hit me or anything.

It's been a few hours since then and I've had four more nose bleeds. It's getting to the point where I'm getting them if I so much as think about sneezing. I'm due at work in about an hour and I have no idea how I'm going to get through it. I haven't been able to work since Thursday because of my lost voice and now I have to run up every 30 minutes or so to stop my bleeding.

I honestly don't know what to do about it anymore. I take vitamins everyday, I've been drinking orange juice and resting when I can, but nothing is helping me get better! Does anyone know how to stop this madness?

I'm going to try to go into work but don't be surprised if you hear from me in an hour.

Well, there is no cure for the common cold, so once you have one, you're sick for 10-14 days. So, orange juice, vitamins, etc. all keep up your immune system so you don't *get* a cold. Now, you're stuck.

In my own experience, hot chicken soup helps best as far as any non-pharmaceutical. Other than that, I have found that Zicam works well for me for nose and throat viruses. You squirt or swab a little of the gel just inside of your nose every four hours, and it screws up the ability of the viruses to infect other cells. Supposedly it will cut the length and severity of a cold by 2/3, but I think it's more like 1/3 - but honestly, it's not nearly so severe. Try it! It's like $6 at any drug store.

Thank you, I'll have to give the Zicam a try. I made it through work with only minor issues but I could tell my supervisor was close to sending me home. I was "the infected one" and was sat in the corner, lol.
