Yay! Outline and shading is done!

All I can say is that it hurt more than the tattoo on my arm but less than the one on my ankle. [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], I just want you to know I just about died when he was doing the crossing of those tails. Ouch. Serious ouch (but I still love you).

This was after about 2 hours-- just the outline.

And here it is with the shading done (omg, I love my star!!!):

I'll go back and get the coloring done next month, February latest. Didn't I tell you it was the best thing ever?

The tattoo was done by Carlos at Black Rose Tattoo here in Tucson in case you were wondering. :D

Carlos did a great job on it. It's my first tattoo done in Tucson so it took me about a year to find a guy I trusted. I can't wait to get it colored, but alas, I am poor now. :p

I say get a tattoo if you really want one but be sure it's something you can live with for a long time-- or get it on your backside where you don't have to look at it. Ha, totally kidding!

On the drawing I was all about the figures and then Carlos was all, "I love this star, I have an idea for the shading." Now I'm in love with my star, lol. I keep thinking I'm in love with the whole thing and it's not even colored yet. :D

Your icon is unendingly cute, too.

It's going to take a few weeks to heal completely so I'll color it sometime after that. I'm hopefully getting a new job Monday and I plan to save up for coloring costs.

The icon is rather cute, huh? It's kinda hard to give a hand a santa hat so I went with mistletoe. ;)

Yeah, I was surprised how much it looked like the drawing. We finally decided the colors for the tails would be teal with magenta highlights, so I'll get that done when I have cash again. It feels good to have that figured out; I think we spent three weeks talking about it.

WOW! That's BEAUTIFUL!

But so . . . big! I'll be getting a tattoo as soon as I can find the image I want, but I'm getting something SMALL. Like, three inches by four inches, or something. OUCH!

Heh. Seriously, it's gorgeous. And yeah, the star rocks.

Oh . . . I should probably clarify that my point about the size is PURELY about my perrsonal wimpiness with pain. That's why I'm getting a small one, so I don't have to cry like a girl for hours and hours and hours, I'll only have to cry for . . . a couple of hours. Or however long it takes to get a little tattoo.

:D

I had to work up to this one; I have two smaller tattoos. :p

This one took 3 hours to get to this point and probably another 2 for coloring later. My smaller tattoos took a lot less time so there's nothing to worry about. The little capricorn I have on my arm took 35 minutes, the arm band for it was an hour and something. I can't remember how long the Nefertiti took, but it was under 2 hours for sure.

So...

LJ just spontaneously posted! Omg, that was strange.

Anyway, I say get your tattoo if you really want one. There's nothing wrong with small-- unless it's a butterfly. I hate those damn things. :p

I like how you did the reflection in the mirror. That kind of thing can be tricky.

I keep forgetting that it zooms in on mouseover. The first time, I hadn't seen the text that says it does that and I was looking at the thestral picture and it made me go "woah!" Haha.

looks cool, i look forward to seeing it all colored in. Will you eventuly be adding a background, or will it be a stand alone peace? was your ink inspired something else, or was it already set out in your mind >?

It will be a stand alone piece. I thought about adding a background but it really doesn't need one. As for the design, I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted but [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] was the one who made it happen. I had a hard time describing exactly what I wanted, but she hit it on the first try. :D

hot.

hey, if you don't mind me asking, how much has it cost so far? I want to treat my girlfriend to her first tattoo next week and I'm wondering how much cash I should take along.

The price for outline and shading was $200 for three hours but I had been talking with Carlos for so long that he gave me a discount. I'm pretty sure their normal price is $100/hour for something so large. The color is also going to be $200 but I'm told it will only take around 2.5 hours to finish.

Hope that helps. :)
